The quarterly literary magazine SAHITYA MELA, under the editorship of poet Sri Purnnendu Prasad Bhattacharya, has completed its long 50-year literary journey. He is a freedom fighter who has been honored by the Government of India with a copper plate and is the author of many research works and has presided over various literary forums in India and other neighboring countries.
Since then, over the long period of 50 years, many renowned poets, writers, researchers, literary personalities and social workers have associated themselves with SAHITYA MELA.
At one time it started as a monthly literary magazine. Despite various adversities, it did not stop but was forced to slow down its pace to a quarterly publication.
As Purnnendu Prasad Bhattacharya began his hundredth year of age, he handed over the editorship of SAHITYA MELA magazine and other responsibilities to Sri Shankha Bhattacharya, who is a skilled literary person who has proven his skills in his involvement as assistant editor and has successfully carried the work forward.
SAHITYA MELA opens paths for new skilled writers alongside experienced writers and recognizes them through appreciation and awards every year.
